Watch Out for These Warning Signs When Used Car Shopping

Proceed with caution if you notice these issues when shopping for a used car.

If you are trying to buy a car while on a budget, then used vehicles are a great option.  However, when shopping for a used car, you need to watch out for certain red flags.  To ensure that you don't make a bad purchase, watch out for these issues when shopping for a used car.
  • History or Damage
If you find a used car that you're interested in, then run its VIN (vehicle identification number) to get the car's history report.  This report will show if the car has been involved in any accidents, has had damage, or been involved with any title issues.  If the report shows these issues, it doesn't necessarily mean that the car is a dud.  However, you should proceed with caution.
  • Unaddressed Auto Recalls
You should also run the car's VIN through the National Highway Safety Administration database to see if it has outstanding vehicle recalls.  When a car is under recall, this means that there is a safety issue with the car that requires immediate repair.  If a car is under recall and has not been repaired, then it can be dangerous to drive.
  • Cheap Price
If the car is being sold way under market value, then this should raise a red flag.  While it's true that there are many reasons why a car owner may want to sell their car for a low price, this is a common tactic that owners use to get rid of junky cars.  By offering such a low price, the owner may be hoping that you will overlook some of the serious issues with the car. Watch out for these issues when shopping for a used car.  If you've finally found the car that's right for you, then make sure you protect it with the right auto insurance.  For assistance with all your car coverage needs, contact the experts at Fuller Insurance Agency today.
