Protect your car with these maintenance tips and Los Angeles, CA auto insurance!
One of the worst things about cars is how much they depreciate in value the second you drive them off the lot! The good news is that there’s something you can do to help that depreciation slow: maintenance. By keeping your car in good shape, you help it hold its value.
Protect your car against time and hazards on the road with these maintenance tips and Los Angeles, CA auto insurance.
- Change your air filter. Find your filter under your car’s hood. It will be located in a rectangular box that has clips on the side (your owner’s manual can help you find it). Open the box and see if the filter is dirty. If so, take it out—remembering which was was facing up—and swap it out.
- Check your oil. You should change your oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. If you’re not sure if you need a change, test your engine oil by pulling out your dip stick, wiping in clean, and putting it back it. If the oil is below the add line, add as needed. Rub a little oil from the dipstick between your fingers. If it leaves a smudge, you likely need a change.
- Swap your windshield wipers. Before El Niño brings heavy rains our way, it’s a good idea to put good wipers on your car. Lift your existing blades and take them out, checking how the blades attach to your car’s metal arm before you do. Attach your new blades and test them out!
