Gun Safety Tips To Keep Your Family Safe

If you choose to exercise your right to bear Arms, make sure to follow these safety practices.

It’s your second amendment right to have a gun. While there are many reasons why you may keep a gun in your home, it’s always important to practice safe gun habits. Check out these safety tips for gun owners to keep you and yours safe.

Always keep your gun unloaded.

Whenever you’re not using your gun, make sure to keep it unloaded. A loaded gun increases your risk for accidents. Before you put it away, make sure it’s empty.

Be mindful of gun storage.

If you own a gun it’s a good idea to keep it locked in a safe place. Make sure to invest in a gun locking device and keep your gun in a locked cabinet, safe, or drawer. Only share the key or access codes with a select few that you trust. That way you can keep your gun from falling into the wrong hands.

Store your gun and ammunition separately.

A loaded gun is a dangerous thing. As an extra safety precaution, store your gun and ammo separately. That way if your gun does fall into the wrong hands, they won’t be able to load the gun too.

Keep friends and family educated on gun safety.

Prevent any accidents and let those in your life know about gun safety. Inform your family and any guests that stay over that there is a firearm in your home. Make sure that any children in your life are aware that a gun is not a toy.  They should never touch a gun or play with one, and should always alert an adult if they come across one.

Make sure your family is kept extra safe, and invest in homeowners insurance. Contact the professionals at Fuller Insurance Agency, located in Southern California, for assistance finding the right policies for your lifestyle in the Chino Hills, Los Angeles, Long Beach and surrounding communities.
