Use this fall checklist for maintenance and Los Angeles, CA homeowners insurance to make sure you’re ready!
Although fall has been slow to come to Southern California, we can all expect the weather to turn – soon and quickly. El Niño is projected to bring record breaking rains to our area. Are you ready for the changing seasons?
Here’s a quick fall maintenance checklist to help you tackle all of your to-dos before the weather turns!
- Patrol for Pests. As the weather turns colder, you can anticipate bugs and animals looking for shelter in your home. Walk around your home and look for any signs of intruders (e.g. chewed furniture and wires, droppings). If you do come across pests like termites or roaches, it’s a good idea to call in a professional to help you eradicate them.
- Shore Up your Shelter. Your roof and gutters will keep the rain off your family through El Niño – provided they’re in good working order. Look for damages on your roof and have any issues dealt with before the rains come. Also, clean out your gutters and downspouts.
- Aid your Alarms. As you’ll be using your furnace, oven, and fireplace more in the colder months, it’s important your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors work properly. Test them, and swap out their batteries for fresh, pre-tested ones. You can use the old batters in other non-essential devices until they run out of juice.
