Try Out These Organization Tips

Get organized for the new year!

Is your home a cluttered mess?  Then there are many things that you can do to remedy the situation.  Try out these tips to help you get organized and have a clean start to the new year.

Downsize

One of the best ways to clear out unnecessary clutter is by downsizing.  This means going through your belongings and discarding or donating the things you no longer want or need.  Make sure you pay particular attention to storage areas such as your closets, attic, garage, pantry, and so on.  Not only will downsizing clear out clutter, but it will also free up more storage space for the things you do want to keep.

Create a Filing System

Paper clutter around your home is one of the most annoying types of clutter to deal with.  However, by creating a filing system, you can easily address the stacks of old bills and newspapers lying throughout your home.  Start by looking through all the documents, and filing away the important ones by type.  For instance, file credit card bills, phone payments, and mortgage payments in their own separate files.  For things like newspapers magazines, set an expiration date for how long you can keep them.  Once they’ve passed their date, promptly file them in the recycling bin.

Invest in Storage Solutions

Finally, the lack of storage space in your home might contribute to the amount of clutter throughout your home.  By investing in storage solutions such as bookshelves, cabinets, and armoires, you can ensure that everything in your home has a designated place.  This, in turn, will make it much harder to excuse clutter in your home.
