Ensuring A Smooth BBQ Season
Safe Grilling = Happy Grilling Summer is here, which means barbecue season is in full swing! Whether you will be hosting your first barbecue of the season, a birthday celebration, or just to have some fun in the sun with friends and family, it is important that you man the grill with safety in mind. Far too many accidents take place each year due to negligent grill operating, which is why we have compiled a list of grill safety tips you to follow during barbecue season. BBQ Season Safety Tips:
  • Did you know that each state, city, and homeowners association has unique rules and regulations surrounding grill use? Be sure to research the regulations your home is responsible for following, especially if you live in a condo or apartment.
  • Are you fixing up dinner on your gas grill? If so, be sure to check for leaks before lighting the grill. You can do this by using a little bit of dish soap and water on the connections and hoses of your gas grill. Simply turn on the gas without lighting it and check for bubbles. No bubbles and you are in the clear!
  • You must light your grill in the appropriate manner. Charcoal grills require very little lighter fluid, and it is important to never add fluid to an already lit grill. It may be better to stick with a chimney or electric starter.
  • Make sure to give yourself some room to grill! You should be AT LEAST 10 feet away from all combustibles, including tree branches, wooden overhangs, and festive decorations.
  • Most importantly, NEVER leave your grill unsupervised. This is especially important if you will be having children or pets at your humble abode during the party.
