Winter Safety Tips For Your Pets!

Ensure your pet's safety this season with these winter safety tips for pets!

Chilly temperatures and rainy weather make for less than ideal conditions for your pets. Keep your pets safe this winter with these winter safety tips for your pets. Stay indoors. Keep your pets safe and dry this winter and keep them inside! Winter weather is hazardous to their health and if temperatures drop to freezing your pet might suffer from hypothermia. Reduce the amount of time they spend outside and never let them spend the night outside. Keep them warm. Supply lots of blankets for your pets. While they may have a fur coat, that doesn’t mean that they can’t get cold. Don’t shave their fur this season, and if you bathe your pets this winter, don’t let them outside with wet fur. You can even invest in animal sweaters for extra warmth! Skip the car rides. While you certainly should never leave your pet in the car during the summer, the same goes for the winter. Extreme temperatures in either direction can be dangerous for your furry friends. Play it safe and never leave them in a car. Extra food. In the wintertime, extra energy is needed to keep warm. Make sure to give your pet a little extra food this season, especially if they live outside. Use the leash. Keep your pet on a leash when you take them outside. Winter weather can spook your animal and can increase the likelihood of them bolting during a storm and getting lost. Also, be sure to microchip your pet and have them wear I.D. tags, so that if they do get lost, a good Samaritan can bring them back to you. Check for animals near your car. Before you head out in the morning, be sure to check your car for any furry friends that have taken shelter in or under your vehicle. Sometimes cats and wildlife will take shelter under your hood. Your car provides shelter and the heat from the engine provides warmth. Keep your furry friends safe this season! And keep your home safe this season with homeowners insurance.
